[局座]：Glad to have this meet up with Mr. Zhang, May I ask how many years of your career life in Singapore? Today we will discuss about learning at overseas in depth.

[翻译]：很高兴张总今天在百忙之中接受大学生情报局的独家访谈，不知道张总在新加坡发展了多少年？我们今天的访谈是360度全方位，我们就要给国内大学生提供有用/实用的情报。

Charles：Do not call me Mr.Zhang, just Charles, Let’s take it as an easy talk, today I will open up my mind to try to help all the China students to understand more about learning at Singapore.

[翻译]：您不要叫我张总，直接称呼我的英文名Charles即可，不要显得太过拘谨，同时也很高兴接受大学生情报局的访谈，希望今天能给国内大学生带来有用的信息。

[局座]：As we know you had a nice grade during your high school, why you had chosen to go overseas instead of continue study in China, and why is Singapore,not other country?

[翻译]：我们知道您当初在高中阶段学习非常优秀，为什么依旧选择出国留学，又为什么决定来新加坡发展？而不选择在国内读大学？或者其他国家？

Charles：Hah, don’t flatter me,in memory, that was a chance in front of me, and I was the one of them want to study overseas, and dreamed to go more countries like US, UK. Study in Singapore will give me this chance to make my dream comes true.

[翻译]：哈哈，优秀谈不上。主要还是当初有一个不错的机会去新加坡，自己也很想到外面闯一闯，所以就没有选择国内上大学，但却考虑过去未来可能去美国或者英国。

[局座]：can you talk about this situation as we have more and more students are interesting on overseas study, is ita good idea or good for their future,please share with us your personal opinions.

[翻译]：现在很多很多高中生和大学生有出国留学的梦想，您对这块怎么看？出国留学是否真的对未来有一定帮助？能否给现在有留学想法的人提出一点意见或您个人的见解？

Charles：look through the whole world economic status, China also has a lot of good employment opportunitiesfor young people.Unless you do have a better choice to go overseas.

[翻译]：根据现在的经济形势来看，在世界大经济的环境下中国也不错的发展，所以除非是国外有非常不错的机会，不然留在国内发展也是一种不错的选择。

Charles：talking about future,sorry, I can’t give you a promise. It is more on you, yourself. For example,the guy with a rich family who came to Singapore “study”, once the journey of study complete, he/she is still nothing improved compare with before. They just came here for fun!

[翻译]：对未来有没有帮助我现在无法给你一个准确答案，因为很多事情是事在人为，就好比说很多富二代出来留学，但是却没有用心的去学习，最终几年后也是一事无成。

Charles：as myself opinion, I will know clearly before I decide to go overseas study, like what I need, what I want my future likes. do not follow people’s follows, do more researching, go to ask friends,your friend’s friends, try to avoid the risk as much as you can.

[翻译]：说到意见和个人见解，我觉得首先要想好自己未来到底想干什么，到底要在哪里干什么，要用一个准确的目标，不能盲目跟风，同时也要考虑自己的家庭情况，在你真正决定出国留学，那么一定要做好准备，首先要多查阅一些资料，多问问有留学经验的亲朋友好友，不赞成盲目出国，毕竟是背井离乡。如果你是通过留学中介机构，那你一定要确保这家中介机构的合法性，可以通过互联网工具找到当地的中国人去咨询一下。

（想留学的小伙伴一定要注意，要找人查询中介机构的合法性，不能被忽悠哦）

[局座]：did your parents help you on expense for your overseas study?

[翻译]：对于海外留学要负担较高的成本，那您当初都是父母给予支持与帮助的么？

Charles：that’s sure thing.That time I just a high school student and my parents support me a lot and I am very appreciate on it. But I was doing some part-time jobs during my study life, and I did lots of low end jobs, like waiter, casher, and porter. I can earn about 800 SGD to cover my live cost.

[翻译]：那是肯定的啊，我上高中的时候可没钱，父母给予了我一定的经济上的帮助。但是在我留学的过程中会去打工获得一定的生活补贴。当初打工真的很累，干过餐厅服务员、酒店宴会的服务生、西餐馆的收银员、还有搬运工等等很多吃苦的工作，每个月大概能赚800的新币，来维持我当时在学校期间的生活费。

（其实Chrales还说，只要你足够的努力，这点苦值得去吃，而且会有惊喜哦）

[局座]：how is the cost like if you don’t take a part-time job, any difference between degree and master? Please talk about it more detailed

[翻译]：那在新加坡留学的话，如果不打工每年的消费大概在什么范围？本科阶段和研究生阶段有什么区别么？比如说，住宿，吃饭，交通，购物，通讯等等

Charles：if you do not get any scholarship, you will spend about 50k SGD for study fee, and 10k per year for living here.

[翻译]：如果是大学自费的话，四年下来的话大概学费要在5万新币的学费新加坡最好的中介公司排名，合人名币25万。当然，还要有生活费，基本上一年最少要1万新币。

Charles：rent a room is about 800 per room per month.

[翻译]：住宿费：如果是两人间的寝室，一个月300-400新币；当然你要一个人的住的话就是2倍的价格；

Charles：eating at Singapore will take you 15-20 SGD per day, and 30 SGD one time if you go dinner with your friends for AA.

[翻译]：吃饭费：不要求吃的好的情况下，一天是15-20新币，就是一些街边的面条，盒饭。隔三差五在和同学聚会聚餐，一次聚餐在AA制的情况下差不多最少每次30新币。

Charles：Transport: 100 SGD will enough for you to take bus and train monthly.

[翻译]：交通费：基本就是做地铁和公交，每个月都能控制在100新币以内；

Charles：：Shopping: unlimited.

[翻译]：购物费：上不封顶；

Charles：telephone rate about 50 SGD per month

[翻译]：通讯费：一个月最少50新币

Charles：BTW, cigarette and alcohol are very expensive, better quit before come to Singapore.

[翻译]：顺便提一下，新加坡的烟酒是非常昂贵的，要来新加坡的男同学，最好先戒烟戒酒。

（如果是是出国旅游的话，可以带一盒烟，但要拿出来一根哦！女孩子去新加坡最好身上有1万元现金哦）

[局座]：what kind of majors suit for study in Singapore? As we know,Singapore have powerful of financial and IT related. How about other majors?

[翻译]：那什么样的学生适合来新加坡留学呢？新加坡我们听说是金融与互联网专业更加具有优势，那其他专业学生是否也可以来到这里留学？

Charles：the top 3 majors in Singapore are Financial,IT and maritime(import, export), heavy industry related not really suit at here.

[翻译]：新加坡最吃香的三大专业就是，金融类专业、技术类专业、海事，海事专业就是码头，港头，跟进出口有关的。如果跟重工业有关的专业就不太适合来新加坡留学。

（局座的认为是，新加坡应该是金融专业的天堂，当然也相信Charles说的更具有说服力）

[局座]：please try to talk about environment of education in Singapore University. And method of teaching and atmosphere of study.

[翻译]：那您能说一下关于新加坡大学的环境及教育理念，简单的说一下新加坡教育的方式和方法？及学生的学习氛围。

Charles：about environment,Singapore has another name “The garden city”. The government pays lots of action on local education. There are 3 universities are also famous in whole world as well. It is more western method of educating.

[翻译]：对于环境而言，新加波在世界上别称为花园城市，而且新加坡政府非常重视教育，所以每所大学的面积非常大，绿化非常好，新加坡三所政府大学都是在世界排名前一百的。教育理念的话更偏向于西方文化教育，更注重实践和交流。

Charles：Here education is more on activity of self-improvement.

[翻译]：新加坡的学习气氛很活跃，相比国内的学习气氛而言，更多的是对个人有帮助，也更注重综合个人能力的培养。

[局座]：is that worth to study in Singapore? Continue study or choose to work here? What’s the benefit to study in Singapore?

[翻译]：新加坡到底值不值得国内学生去留学？继续深造，还是直接在当地就业？到新加坡留学有什么好处？所学知识的实用性？

Charles：compare with other Developed Country,Singapore easier to in take the course, but exclude that top3 government universities.(NUS, NYT, SMU)

[翻译]：相比较其他发达国家的大学，新加坡大学进入的门槛相对还是容易一些，但是不包括三所政府类大学（新加坡国立大学、新加坡南洋理工大学、新加坡管理大学）。

Charles：continue study orstart to work after graduateis depends on personal, education background is the top 1 consideration to employer.

[翻译]：说到深造还是就业，最终还是决定于个人的选择，当下发达国家对于学历还是非常重视的，学历高的话薪水和发展都会更快的提升。

Charles：about advantage, after graduate, you will have more chance to go to other developed country to continue study, or become anew citizenship of Singapore through you hard working.

[翻译]：那么说到好处，毕业之后会有更多的机会去其他发达国家进行深造，同时通过自身的努力有机会变成新加坡公民，新加坡的护照就可以去上百个国家免签。

Charles：you can directly employed by companies after you graduate here.

[翻译]：对于大学所学知识的实用性，简单点说，就是你毕业后，直接就可以进入工作岗位，不需要其他的学习和培训。

[局座]：how about the safety in Singapore and how is the culture looks like?

[翻译]：新加坡留学在人身安全上怎么样？当地的人文习俗怎么样？

Charles：Singapore is the most safety country, but even though, it also has red-light district.

[翻译]：新加坡享受国际上最安全国家的评价，就算再好也有相对不安全的地方，比如说新加坡的红灯区。

Charles：most of local Chinese comes from Fujian China in last century, So they still keep some of Chinese culture., Here also has some people from Malay, India and western

[翻译]：大部分的新加坡华人的祖先都是来自中国福建，还是在一定程度上保留了中国的传统文化。当然还有其他国家的人，马来人、印度人、洋人。

[局座]：is it easy to find a job there, and how long need to take? How about the income?

[翻译]：新加坡好不好找工作呢？多久能找到工作呢？企业薪资待遇？

Charles：compare with China,here has more chances.If you have high grade in university, then you will get a good job in 10 days.

[翻译]：相对国内而言还是比较好找到工作的，工作机会还是蛮多的，如果你在大学里好好学习的话，综合能力差不多的情况下，大概也要在10天左右找到一份工作。

Charles：about the salary,everywhere should be same,depends on yourself. As usual, 3000 SGD can be made for fresh graduate students.

[翻译]：对于企业薪资待遇而言，还是更多的看重自身的专业和能力，这个事情在任何国家都是一样的，一般而言，刚毕业的大学生起薪是在3000新币左右。

Charles：here dose have a 13th month salary, more than that is based on the company annual financial. I just got one apple as my bonus from my last job.

[翻译]：对于年终奖来说，新加坡政府规定企业每年必须开13薪，超过的部分,就看企业自身的情况而定，我曾经有份工作在年终奖的时候企业只发了我一个苹果。

[局座]：any difference between Singapore and China study. What is your advantage?

[翻译]：所学知识回国后会不会水土不服？你和国内大学生的竞争力在哪里？

Charles：it will be better if you employed by a oversea company. But it still base on your knowledge background

[翻译]：知识是否回国后水土不服，还是要看你进入国内什么样的企业，如果在外资企业工作就很轻松，主要还是看个人学了专业，自身能力的问题。

Charles：for competitive, study from Singapore will has wider view, and more advantage on practice.

[翻译]：对于竞争力而言，新加坡的留学生相对来说视野更广阔，所学到知识在应用和实践上会更具备优势。

[局座]：how about the night life?And what are the social apps they are using?

[翻译]：新加坡的大学生夜生活如何？新加坡都实用什么社交软件？

Charles：nothing much that have a drink with friends,maybe you like dance. We are using facebook, whatsapp,instagram and twitter.

[翻译]：新加坡的夜生活相对来说还是比较枯燥，选择性不多，只有泡吧、喝酒、D厅就没了。新加坡的社交软件是facebook、whatsapp、instagram、推特；

[局座]：how much of the property and cars? Is that easy to find a girlfriend?

[翻译]：新加坡房子多少钱？车子多少钱？好不好找女朋友？新加坡女孩对男孩的要求？

Charles：there are government subsidize flat,condominium, apartment and villas. Only very rich person can have one of themost expensive villas in Singapore.

[翻译]：新加坡的房子分为政府福利房，只可以给公民和持有绿卡的人购买，大概平均在4000-5000新币每平方米；商业商品房（私人公寓），同样地点的话最少是政府福利房的1.5倍的价格；别墅的话，那真的是寸土寸金，毕竟新加坡的面积比较少，拥有亚洲最贵的别墅。

Charles：cars? Any other counties have more expensive cars than here?

[翻译]：新加坡的车？还有比新加坡的车更贵的国家么？

Charles：for looking a girlfriend. It is really very hard. They are more independent, and willing to be single.

[翻译]：在新加坡关于找女朋友的话题，实际情况是非常不好找，因为本地的女孩更独立，并且有很多单身贵族；

Charles：they require boys have 5C: Cash, Clubmember, Condo, Credit Card, Car.

[翻译]：新加坡女孩对男孩的要求是达到5C（现金/俱乐部会员/私人公寓/信用卡/私人轿车）

Charles：Of course not all of them, like mine.

[翻译]：当然也不是所有的新加坡女孩子都是这样，好女孩还是有的，我本人就遇到了。

[翻译]：新加坡工作压力大不大？

Charles：of course, but not much as China.

[翻译]：那是相当大，但和国内比还差的很远，哈哈。
